It's colorful. It looks interesting. But what is KT tape? Kinesio tape (KT tape) is a tool and technique used to assist in the reduction of pain and inflammation, assist in the recovery of an injury, provide mechanical correction, inhibit a tight muscle, or to facilitate a weak muscle. Runners who suffer from low back pain, Iliotibial band syndrome, quadricep tendonitis, hamstring tendonitis, achilles tendonitis or plantar fasciitis can benefit from KT taping.

When you come to Parkview Field for packet pickup on Friday, September 29, stop by the Parkview Therapy ONE expo booth to see Kinesio taping performed by Certified (CKTP) and trained therapists like Rob Norton, PT, ATC, Parkview Therapy ONE. The team will be demonstrating techniques for common running injuries from noon to 7 p.m. and offering free taping while supplies last.
Kinesio tape typically lasts for 3-5 days and can be worn while showering, bathing or swimming. If you plan to try the taping, avoid using lotion or oils, and shave or trim excessively hairy areas.
And after the race ...
Parkview Sports Medicine athletic trainers will be on stand-by to answer questions and assist runners with stretching, foam rolling, stretching boards, cooling blankets (primarily for marathoners), as well as food and drinks.
